Air Race Classic Camaraderie

Team#48 is together at last and we enjoyed a nice BBQ dinner with all the other racers. For the next couple of days the teams will get a chance to review the safety procedures, rules and traditions of the this truly CLASSIC air race. Not every minute is exciting but indeed it is all educational and necessary for the teams to maintain safe operation in close proximity to each other for more than 72 hours over 2700 miles.

Sometimes 'bad' things can and do happen as even our own Purple Hearts have experienced, however the goal is that ALL of the racers share in a very unique experience TOGETHER no matter the challenge. Sadly 'Team Bessie (#37) cannot complete the race as they suffered an off-field 'belly' landing just outside of Prescott. Thankfully everyone is FINE since machines can be fixed much easier than people. Click on the caption below if you would like to learn more about the scary event.

On a more positive note, during the classes and procedure training before the race the ladies have several events schedule to 'connect' with each other, swap stories, make friends, talk 'smack' and just have FUN being together over the next week. Here are a few photos of the teams we have met. Enjoy!
