Purple Hearts intact with the PACK!

We landed safely in a 9 knot crosswind after 2 attempts. YAY- we have caught up with the pack

Congrats to the ladies for another successful and long day. As expected the weather was brewing Northeast of the route keeping it challenging. The fly-by was fun but of course the shifting and gusty winds pushed us off course a tad at the end. Teresa executed a go-around as the plane ballooned a bit too much with a surprise gust. The Purple Hearts are happily on a full stop for the day and plan to get out on to Georgia and finally the Florida terminus as soon as the other racers in residence get launched in the order they arrived.

Teresa reported that many of the other teams wanted to see the repaired rudder and it's sister shoved into the cockpit. Those are the kind of stories that are going to make the conversations over dinner tonight ALL that more special!

  5. Stop by Arnold Engineering Development Center and see if you can borrow a slightly used afterburner for the Purple Machine. Also, keep Teresa away from that Jack Daniels distillery. You know how much she likes to drink! (Diet Coke 🤓)

  6. Ha - do you think a Pratt engine will help the Purple Hearts sneak out a couple more knots of speed?
